Why I joined Skillshare
I remember back in February of 2020 during the early uncertainty of the first covid lockdown. As an English teacher, I was severely impacted. I’d lost so many clients and business lessons that I was worried my small enterprise wouldn’t survive.
I didn’t sulk about it though, I was on a mission to change the way I do business by adding content creation to my operation. I wanted to start a YouTube channel for graphic style video English lessons. I figured that if I could master PowerPoint, I could express my teaching in a way I’d never thought possible.
So, I joined Skillshare that February and started taking PowerPoint courses. My skills progressed so much that I soon began integrating those skills into my online teaching and making some initial video explainers for my university students. By the summer of 2020, I was ready to publish my first content.
Instead of Publishing on YouTube, however, I published on Skillshare. I figured with their rigorous quality standards, if I could make content good enough for them, I could make content good enough for YouTube. Since then, I have produced another 6 classes for Skillshare and still counting.
If you would like to watch any of the classes shown here, you can use my teacher link to join on a free trial. During the trial period, watch any of my classes along with all the other incredibly useful Skillshare classes to help grow your knowledge and skills.
Here are some classes I’ve made so far:
Graphic Designing with PowerPoint
The second and third Skillshare classes I made had to do with graphic designing in PowerPoint. Having a blog, I have learnt a lot about how to use Pinterest to generate interest in my blog posts. As Pinterest is a highly visual, half-social media other half-search engine, I had to learn how to make images and video pins for Pinterest.
Although most designers advocate using Canva, I found that PowerPoint was a more than adequate design tool for that social media platform. In fact, you can use PowerPoint to design images for any and every platform.
If you are interested in learning how to use PowerPoint to design Pinterest (or any social media) images, try these two Skillshare classes.
Business English Skills
I teach business English as a private teacher and at the University of Economics in Katowice, so naturally, I have made some business skills and business English Skillshare classes.
The first class I’d ever produced as an online course was How to Make a CV in English. I had figured that at the time, there would be a lot of job turnover in the market. For non-native English speakers, an English CV is an important asset that you must have to land your dream job. In Poland, many of my students make similar mistakes when it comes to the sentence voice in their CVs on the job descriptions, skills descriptions, and personal statement.
My course will fix all of that. Watch it on Skillshare today!
Creative Thinking Skills for Business
Business and Creativity go hand-in-hand. Businesses try to make a commercial success out of creative inventions, products, and services. Businesses also employ creative thinking techniques to drive idea sharing, problem-solving, and find new strategic directives.
My course will teach you two creative thinking techniques to use in business English meetings. Watch it on Skillshare to get your creative juices flowing!
Business English Grammar for Meetings - How to Use Conditionals
Conditionals are an important English element in both everyday and business communication. In business, you need conditionals to negotiate, run meetings, and solve problems.
While conditionals may give English learners a lot of problems, my course will help you master them intuitively.
Send the right messages and understand the nuance of business English communication. Watch it on Skillshare today!
American Homestyle Cooking
When I moved abroad for the first time, it became super important for me to develop my cooking skills.
I’d always known how to cook, but living in a foreign country really impressed on me the need to cook for myself.
Back in the early 2000’s, Poland didn’t have the kind of variety in restaurants as there is today. So, I had to learn how to cook all my favorites from back home in Los Angeles.
Therefore, I started a series of lessons called American Homestyle Cooking. My two feature courses are about the Fall Classics: Thanksgiving dinner along with my Pumpkin Favorites (pie and spicy soup).
